Study Subject(s):Numerical Methods for Vegetation Models
Course Level:Postdoctoral
Scholarship Provider: Umea University
Scholarship can be taken at: Sweden
Eligibility:-To qualify for the stipend, you should have a PhD degree in computational mathematics or a quantitative science related to the project, preferably not older than three years.
-Experience of programming in C++, parallel computing, or mathematical ecology will be an advantage, but is not required.
-Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential.
-Since we strive for a more equal gender distribution within our department, we especially encourage female applicants.
Scholarship Open for International Students: No
Scholarship Description: We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to take on the numerical and computational challenges arising in an international research collaboration that aims to develop an evolutionary ecology vegetation model capable of predicting vegetation structures favored under different environmental conditions. The model is physiologically structured and represented mathematically by a non-local partial differential equation, i.e., by a PDE in which coefficients depend on non-local properties of the solution. A particularly relevant example is the light availability at a given height above ground level.
How to Apply: Online or by Post
Scholarship Application Deadline: August 8, 2011 at the latest
