Eligibility: -To qualify for the BIOTRACK Post-Doctoral Programme the applicants must be in possession of a doctoral degree before the deadline of the call in an appropriate life science discipline.

2-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Synergies and tensions in innovation in the life sciences, Norway

Scholarship Description: The position will be affiliated with a new research project called “Synergies and tensions in innovation in the life sciences” (STILS). The project is a Scandinavian comparative study funded by the FORFI programme at the Research Council of Norway. The aim of the project is to understand and improve the basis for policy making directed at innovation in the life sciences, looking in particular at the interplay between universities, firms, hospitals and intermediary organisations within cancer and neuroscience. The main empirical focus of the candidate’s work will be interviews within such organisations in Oslo, Gothenburg and Copenhagen, possibly complemented by other methods e.g. studies of patents and publications. The project has partners from the University of Gothenburg and Copenhagen Business School, but the post-doctoral fellow will be the only full-time worker in the project. Professor Magnus Gulbrandsen, TIK will lead the project, which aims both to produce scientific publications and useful policy advice.

In addition to synthesis, there will be attention paid to both a complete characterization of the obtained materials with a variety of analytical techniques as well as the final application of these materials in sensors and separations. In the framework of this project, there will be active collaborations with a multidisciplinary team of research groups both within and outside Hasselt University. Besides research, also a limited contribution in the didactic tasks of the department is expected from the candidate ( assistance in (laboratory) exercises or guidance of internships).

American Research in the field of Humanities and Related Social Sciences, China 2012

Scholarship Description: Fellowship tenure is from four months to one year of continuous research in China. The fellowship period must fall between July 1, 2012 and December 31, 2013. However, awardees planning to begin using fellowships as early as July 2012 must be prepared to delay entry into China if it is not possible to secure placement before September. The program is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Stipends are calculated based upon the length the awardee’s stay in China, and include allowances for travel, living expenses, and research/affiliation fees. Stipends for four to five months of research cannot exceed $25,200. The maximum award is $50,400. The award may be reduced if the candidate also receives full or partial salary during the fellowship period. There is no financial support for dependents.

-A collaborative project is constituted of at least two scholars who are each seeking salary-replacement stipends for six to twelve continuous months of supported research leave to pursue full-time collaborative research during the fellowship tenure.
-The Project Coordinator must have an appointment at a U.S.-based institution of higher education; other project members may be at institutions outside the United States or may be independent scholars.

Scholarship Description: ACLS invites applications for the fourth annual competition for the ACLS Collaborative Research Fellowships for collaborative research in the humanities and related social sciences. The program is supported by a generous grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Objectives The aim of this fellowship program is to offer small teams of two or more scholars the opportunity to collaborate intensively on a single, substantive project. The fellowship supports projects that aim to produce a tangible research product (such as joint print or web publications) for which two or more collaborators will take credit. The fellowships are for a total period of up to 24 months, to be initiated between July 1, 2012 and September 1, 2014, and provide salary replacement for each collaborator (based on academic rank: up to $35,000 for Assistant Professor; up to $40,000 for Associate Professor; and up to $60,000 for full Professor) as well as up to $20,000 in collaboration funds (which may be used for such purposes as travel, materials, or research assistance). The amount of the ACLS fellowship for any collaborative project will vary depending on the number of collaborators, their academic rank, and the duration of the research leave, but will not exceed $140,000 for any one project. Collaborations need not be interdisciplinary or inter-institutional. Applicants at the same institution, however, must demonstrate why local funding is insufficient to support the project. Collaborations that involve the participation of assistant and associate faculty members are particularly encouraged. Up to seven awards will be made in the 2011-12 competition.

2011 Postdoctoral Research Training Program in the field of Education Sciences funded for Education Research in USA

Eligibility:-Applicants who intend to revise and resubmit a proposal that was submitted to one of the Institute’s previous competitions but that was not funded must indicate on the application form that their FY 2012 proposal is a revised proposal and include the application number of the previous application (an 11 character alphanumeric identifier beginning “R305” or “R324”). The prior reviews will be sent to this year’s reviewers along with the resubmitted proposal.
-Applicants should indicate the revisions that were made to the proposal on the basis of the prior reviews using no more than 3 pages of Appendix A. Applicants who revise and resubmit a proposal should be aware that the FY 2012 application will be reviewed according to the FY 2012 Request for Applications.
-Applicants who have submitted a somewhat similar proposal in the past but are submitting the current proposal as a new proposal must indicate on the application form that their FY 2012 proposal is a new proposal.
-Applicants should provide a rationale explaining why the current proposal should be considered to be a “new” proposal rather than a “revised” proposal at the beginning of Appendix A using no more than 3 pages. Without such an explanation, if the Institute determines that the current proposal is similar to a previously unfunded proposal, the Institute may send the reviews of the prior unfunded proposal to this year’s reviewers along with the current proposal.
